6,000 People Showed Up to Your Rally. How Many Can You Reach Tomorrow?

MN350 turned a crowd of 6,000 into 2,919 opted-in activists in a single afternoon.

The energy at a rally is electric. Thousands of people, all fired up, all ready to act. But when the event ends, most organizers have no way to reach those supporters again. No phone numbers. No names. No way to invite them to the next action.

That’s the exact problem MN350 faced when they organized the Minnesota Youth Climate Strike. 6,000 people attended. The question was: how do you keep them?

The Answer: One Keyword. One Short Code. 2,919 Contacts.

Using CallHub’s SMS Opt-In campaigns, MN350 had rally speakers announce a keyword (MNSTRIKE) and a short code number (33339). Attendees texted in from their phones. Automated follow-ups collected their name, school, and grade right on the spot.

Half the crowd signed up using their mobile phones in minutes. The result: a segmented, opt-in contact list of 2,919 activists, ready for personalized outreach.

Then: Personalized Outreach That Actually Mobilized

With the list built, MN350 used peer-to-peer texting to send personalized messages to specific segments. Volunteer recruitment texts achieved a 22%+ positive response rate. Mobilization texts for the December 6th strike got 10%+ confirmation. And targeted messages reached Twin Cities students separately from suburban and college supporters.

When we had speakers, we told people to do it, and we had signs around the march, too.
