Over the next two years, Ohio Democrats (ODP) will build an organization to win highly-consequential elections up and down the ballot. With new leadership comes a new vision for our Party, refocusing on the core fundamentals that move the needle. ODP is building back better as a focused, modern, and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.In 2025, Ohio Democrats must re-engage communities, county parties, and voters to build a stronger coalition. Our coalition’s primary focus will be inclusivity, voter education, and mobilization. This department is dedicated to equipping our base and constituencies to elect quality democrats to make Ohio a battleground state, and win in 2025-2026.
About the Opportunity
Ohio Democrats are seeking a talented, passionate professional to build and execute a year-round African American Coalition and Community Engagement Program. Working as a part of the Coalitions team, the Director will design an innovative program that includes traditional/grassroots organizing, distributed/coalition organizing, and digital mobilization focused on reaching and engaging African American stakeholders and communities across Ohio. The African American Outreach Director will also serve as an important advisor to the Chair and other senior party leaders. The right candidate for this job will be able to work successfully across departments and externally with a variety of instate partners, elected officials, campaigns, key stakeholders, and membership organizations.Qualifications:
At least two cycles working on issue-based or electoral campaigns in organizing or outreach-focused rolesExperience in organizing, project building, stakeholder and staff management
Experience with NAACP, Organized Labor, Repo Groups, and Government entities is a plus.
Ability to work strategically and creatively across multiple departments
Experience creating clear, transparent processes for voter contact and political outreach programs
Previous experience in racial justice and/or social equity work
Advanced Votebuilder, excel, and digital tool skills
Comfortable and confident in public speaking, particularly with grassroots leaders and building strong relationships
Proficient writing and communication skills
Commitment to working across multiple programs while also maintaining a positive, quality-driven culture
Access to a vehicle for frequent in-state travel and a valid driver’s license
Ability to collaborate with democratic groups, allied partners and progressive organizations.
Ability to advise ODP, campaigns, and candidates on messaging and AA-focused grassroots outreach.

Salary:
The salary will be $5,500 per month and full benefits including PTO as needed, health, dental, and voluntary vision insurance. The hourly expectation will fluctuate depending on the campaign cycle, but will be a minimum of 40 hours per week.
