Job Description
LGBT National Help Center are seeking different types of media volunteers at different levels of involvement to help. Do you have an interest in LGBTQ+ media and want to share it? Many who are just beginning their journey or those who are seeking something new to explore can gain from your love of LGBTQ+ media.
What sparks your interests? Our media volunteers help us create articles/think pieces, and social media posts on LGBTQ+ media.
Current mediums we’re looking to explore and expand on:
-Books/films + tv/music created by or for the LGBTQ+ community
-LGBTQ+ media through the lens of straight parents raising LGBTQ+ youth and/or LGBTQ+ parents raising young people with an eye on the portrayal of LGBTQ+ led families
-LGBTQ+ history
-Current LGBTQ+ news
If you are interested in writing spoiler free reviews on LGBTQ+ media, short or long articles/think pieces on LGBTQ+ history, or on current news we are interested in you volunteering.
We're looking for reviews to include information on the medium, the creator, and also your views on how the subject relates to the LGBTQ+ community, and those who may be seeking support through the LGBT National Help Center. This position is largely working alone, but will also have the option of working with a team of both staff and other media volunteers as the program grows.
Currently we have volunteers that product content anywhere from once a month to once a week, so we can work as a team set a workable schedule.
You’ll have the option of working in long form or short forms, and plan with staff on what projects you would like to work on and on your schedule. Content created will be used on our website and through social media to offer insight and support to the LGBTQ+ community.
