I’m exploring a career switch into the nonprofit sector and want to get a better feel for the big players out there—those that are nationally recognized and really making a difference. Looking for suggestions and insights!

I’ve been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity for years, they’re amazing at getting regular folks like us involved in building real homes for families. Also, Feeding America has a great local presence across states!

It depends on the field. For civil rights, check out the ACLU. In education, I always point people to Khan Academy or DonorsChoose. They’re not just reputable, they’re innovative.

If you’re looking to support the planet, The Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club are the real deal. I’ve also donated to WWF (World Wildlife Fund)—they do great global conservation work!

For those focused on the environment, Sierra Club and NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) are two you should know. They’ve been on the front lines of environmental justice and climate advocacy long before it was trending. Super organized, science-based, and powerful.
