Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Fellowship Program!
The Sikh Coalition’s Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Fellowship Program is an opportunity for students at the high school and undergraduate levels to gain insight into civil rights work in the nonprofit and nonpartisan space. The goal of this Fellowship Program is to provide young sangat members with the tools and direction to increase their sangat’s civic power by encouraging members of local communities to vote in the upcoming 2024 elections.
During the six-month Fellowship Program, fellows will be given the opportunity to develop and implement strategies for voter engagement. We are specifically looking to recruit candidates from the following states: Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
Fellowship Information | Things to know before applying:- This will be a remote position with some in-person engagement expected in your community;
- There will be a focus on building local capacity to assist with information dissemination registration and
- Fellows will get the opportunity to work with other members of the Sikh Coalition’s Team (Communications, Legal, and Development)
Fellowship Activities | Fellows will be expected to:
- Build local capacity and interest in civic engagement, including by visiting gurdwaras and other locations to talk about voting and register voters;
- Research and disseminate information about voting (deadlines, mail-in ballots, etc);
- Attend monthly speaker series to learn from Sikh advocates across the country and
- Create and drive individual projects to aid in voter education.
Fellow Requirements | Applicants for this Fellowship Program should:
- Live in one of the above-listed states
- Be late high school (Grades 11 or 12) or undergraduate students;
- Be hard-working, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and flexible;
- Be able to devote up to 30 hours a month from June to November 5th (hours may vary from week to week);
- Be able to work on weekends frequently;
- Have their own mode of transportation for local engagement and
- Have spoken Punjabi language skills (strongly preferred but not required)
