How much does it cost to run for president?
You know how it seems like every political campaign is always asking for donations? Turns out running for president is seriously expensive. I’m talking billions of dollars! There’s TV ads, social media campaigns, paying staff, printing signs- it all adds up fast.
In the 2020 election, the total spending hit $14 billion, and it’s only getting higher for 2024.
And it’s not just about ads. There are fundraising rules to follow, especially for qualifying for debates. Some candidates even get creative with merch (like Trump’s mugshot gear) to bring in more cash.
